This distinguished variety is well known throughout the world and although identical to Fuggle in many ways it does have its own distinctive characteristics. The perfume-like hoppy character that was again used mainly in European lagers works very well in the less malty flavoured golden coloured beers.
New Zealand Orbit hops are a blend of hops specially selected out of the New Zealand “Hops with a Difference” breeding program. These hops are selected on their unique aroma and flavour characteristics as well as their brewing quality. The hops may be grown in very small plots at the New Zealand Plant and Food Research Centre in Riwaka or in larger selected trial gardens across the region.
Bullion is a sister seedling from Brewers Gold. In 1919 Bullion raised as a crossing between a female wild cultivate from Canada and an unknown English male. It’s a late variety, which is less biny in the heads than other varieties. On the contrary to the mother, Bullion is immune against the Mosaic virus.
Developed by Hop Breeding Company and released in 2016, Loral™ Brand HBC 291 has a noble heritage that straddles the fence between old and new world hop aromatics. It has the ability to complement all beer styles, making it a very versatile hop in the brewery. Loral™ has been described as pleasant with floral, citrus, peppery and some dark fruit characteristics.
This is the most flavoured of all varieties, with passion fruit, red berries and sweet fruits being some of the predominant flavours. It does have some of the same qualities as the noble hops from which it was developed but is a little more earthy and spicy with pronounced grassy notes.
