Before filtering the tinctures, they should be pre-cooled, which will cause the impurities to clump into "thicker" flocs, increasing the filtration efficiency. After pouring the liquid into the bag, hang it, for example, on a string by the handles attached to it and let the gravitational liquid drain. The liquid will drip slowly over the top of the bag and debris will stick to the sides. In the case of only pouring wine, the bag can be placed on a small funnel.
To increase the efficiency of the process, the bag can be "twisted" around its axis. The bag can also be used as a cheaper alternative to a press for squeezing fruit juice after initial maceration or fermentation.
